One way that we can make the world a better place is to improve the welfare of others. Medical research helps us to improve the health of others, alleviate suffering and improve the quality of life for those with illness.
When Dr. Zaniewski started in practice, the only drugs to treat Diabetes Mellitus were sulfonylureas and older forms of insulin. Home blood glucose testing equipment was not available and it was frequent to see patients with severe hypoglycemic episodes, coma, hypoglycemic strokes and heart attacks.
Now there are many oral agents with a low incidence of hypoglycemic reactions and the quality of life has improved for many patients with Diabetes Mellitus. Although research has not yet provided us with a cure, patients with Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus are living longer, having healthier children and healthier lives.
We are currently recruiting patients for research studies with drugs for type 2 diabetes with novel mechanisms of action. Please contact our office if you are interested in participating.
We have been involved in Endocrine Research since 2002. We have participated in research studies regarding Growth Hormone Deficiency in Adults, Osteoporosis, Cholesterol problems and Heart Disease, Testosterone Deficiency, Gene Expression in Thyroid Nodules and Thyroid Cancer, Insulin research and Injectable and oral drugs for patients with Diabetes Mellitus.
